Context

Everyday development work creates small, recurring needs that lack a perfect off-the-shelf solution, or the available solutions require uploading files to a server. A personal toolbox makes more sense than stitching together third-party services.

Role

Process

  1. 01

    Image conversion via WASM

The image converter handles format conversion โ€” WebP, AVIF, and others โ€” entirely in the browser via WebAssembly, using the jsquash and @squoosh-kit libraries. Files never leave the user's system, which matters when working with client assets. The tool also lets you compare output formats and file sizes directly, making it useful for informed decisions about image optimization.

  2. 02

    Ratio converter

A general-purpose ratio math tool covering aspect ratios for images, video, and layout calculations. It's the kind of small arithmetic that comes up often enough to be worth automating.

Outcome

A practical, privacy-conscious toolbox that's grown organically around real workflow needs. The image converter in particular has become a regular part of how I work.
